Job: Commercial Development Underwriter, Hillman Saunders Ltd.

My client is a specialist insurance company with a global presence, providing both personal and commercial products to its client base. They are seeking an experienced commercial underwriter (ideally with excellent knowledge of property and liability) to promote their product within a defined sector, and to price and classify risks in relation to their underwriting guidelines and rating consideration. As you would be responsible for a broker panel you would be required to provide account management and service delivery for a portfolio of regional clients, and to provide a local underwriting service for new business and renewals. Your role would also involve attendance of meetings, corporate functions and seminars as required, and obtaining market information and feedback from brokers and clients where necessary. Additionally you will provide monitoring and technical guidance to ensure continual improvement of the competency of underwriters. Although your role will predominantly be field based and client facing you will also liaise frequently with the other underwriters in order to contribute to the development and implementation of the underwriting strategy. The ideal candidate will possess ACII or be working towards it the qualification, and have at least 5 years of commercial underwriting experience. Knowledge of Property and Liability lines of business is desirable, as is experience of the broker market in the Manchester area.
