Position: Network Engineer

Location: Stockport, Cheshire

Salary: £Negotiable depending on experience

Due to the continued expansion within CDL, we have an exciting opportunity for a network engineer to join our Infrastructure Systems team. Proven ability of managing and troubleshooting networks using Cisco & Juniper devices, together with knowledge of configuring and supporting wide area networks, security, wireless access and VPNs would be advantageous.

Main Responsiblities:

To configure and monitor the performance of all networks and related devices, within CDL and at remote client sites. Suggest and implement improvements to network services as appropriate, in accordance with change control procedures. Assist with service delivery and to promote standards and working practices across the company.

Scope of Job:

Network Infrastructure & Security – implementation and configuration for performance, resilience and security

Service Delivery – assist Technology colleagues in achieving agreed service standards

Standards and Working Practices – implementation of standards and working practices to improve service quality, performance and network efficiency.

Project Management and Research & Development – assist in the planning and participation of network projects and network-related research & development

Dimensions:

Provide recommendations for network infrastructure development in line with new technology.

Evaluate and recommend the use of new network equipment for use by CDL or clients as directed.

Secure networks and control access and mentoring according to company policy.

Implement working standards and practices as directed by the Infrastructure Systems team leader.

Qualifications:

Minimum HND educated, in a related subject

CCNA certified

Proven Ability:

Proven and demonstrable ability in a network administration/support environment

Up to date knowledge of networking hardware and software and related security issues

Familiarity with configuration of Cisco Routers and switches
