Reporting to:

Technologies Manager

Description of Business Unit/Division/Department or Function

Deliver Integrated Technologies and Services

Objectives for the BU/Division/Department or Function

• Enhance the effectiveness of the business unit by;

• Reviewing system designs to improve commission-ability

• Developing processes to assist installation teams in pre-commissioning their installation

• Using the latest technology and innovative processes to add value for the client and the company

Key Responsibilities

Support the Tender and Contract phases of a project with the following actions;

Tender

1. Review the scope of a project and agree the commissioning time allowed

2. Determine any commissioning risks inherent in the proposed BMS works and recommend changes.

3. Review design to identify opportunities for innovation and value engineering which may improve the ease of commissioning

Contract

4. Identify any errors, mistakes or omissions in the control system.

5. Deliver quality commissioned systems in line with budget and time parameters.

6. Check and set to work MCCs on site and at the panel shop as required.

7. Position field controls on site or on drawings in accordance with the relevant standards and requirements

8. Liase on technical and issues with relevant parties during installation and commissioning

9. Create, complete and submit commissioning sign-off documentation for inclusion in the Operation & Maintenance Manuals.

10. Develop a commissioning plan using Microsoft Project.

11. Check the controls installation for quality, safety and functionality.

12. Fault find controls and motive power electrical circuits and design.

13. Advise and direct installation teams on the correct connections.

14. Demonstrate controls systems to the client.

15. Create software from a specification or description of operation.

16. Make the necessary changes to points lists, descriptions or drawings, as identified during the commissioning process.

17. Set to work the hardware commissioning items such as;

a. Stroke valves and dampers

b. Pump rotations

c. Boiler circuits

d. CHW circuits

e. AHUs, VAVs, FCUs, Chilled Beams etc.

18. Set to work software / systems commissioning items such as;

a. PID control

b. Plant Applications

c. Ethernet & Other Networks

d. Server & Client PCs

e. Integration between systems using ModBus, BacNet, Lon etc.

19. Calibrate Sensors

20. Commission Offsite manufactured modules at the assembly shop

Key Skills

Good communication skills (spoken and written)

Reasoning and problem solving skills – with ability to think laterally

Conversant with standard control methodologies

Ability to apply new technology and innovative solutions to old problems and processes

Experience within the controls industry

Strong IT skills

Flexible approach to team working so each team function can assist the others when necessary
