M&E Consulting Engineer required to project manage electrical designs for new build and major building conversions up to £1.5M in value.

My client is looking to recruit a dynamic and experienced M&E Consulting Engineer with experience of project management of new and refurbished buildings, hospitals and green field factory builds.

M&E Consulting Engineer required to project manage electrical designs for new build and major building conversions up to £1.5M in value.

My client is leading provider of Mechanical and Electrical Consulting Engineering with projects ranging up to £1.5M in value. They are looking to recruit a dynamic and experienced M&E Consulting Engineer with experience of project management of new and refurbished buildings, hospitals and green field factory builds. You will already have gained experience from a similar environment and will have the drive to manage high value projects with a view to becoming a manager of a small team within a few years. Ideally, you will be educated to HNC/HND or degree level and have a hands-on pragmatic approach.

You will be responsible for:

Taking rough clients brief of electrical installation and convert it in to a working set of drawings and specification. Outline design concept will have been established.

Once documents are produced and issued to tender you will be expected to project manage, attend monthly design meetings, assess contractor valuations, carry out site inspections and issue snagging reports.

In addition the ideal candidate should have a reasonable understanding or be prepared to learn about mechanical installations. You would be expected to be able to chair M&E sub-contractor co-ordination meetings. You would be expected to witness test installations and be confident that all elements are satisfactory.

Typical value of electrical works range up to £1.5M. Larger projects would be a share of the workload.

Lighting

Emergency Lighting

Small power

Trunking and tray routes

Fire Alarm

Security

CCTV

Access control

Structured wiring

External Lighting

Mechanical wiring

Use of AutoCad a benefit but not initially necessary, would be expected to learn it over time.

Use of Cymap would be of benefit but not initially necessary, would be expected to learn it over time.

Use of IEE16 cable calculation software would be beneficial.

You will receive a good basic salary of up to £40k plus company car (or allowance) of your choice (DOE.)
