Environmental Cosultant required to contribute to the development of the clients existing air quality capability and services and assist with business development and writing proposals.

Project work may include:

• Environmental Impact Assessment

• Strategic Environmental Assessment

• Due Diligence

• Environmental Management Systems

• Environmental Auditing

• Sustainability Appraisal

Project work is also anticipated to also include site work, travel to other offices and overnight stays.

Accountabilities

Contribution to and supported management of qualitative and quantitative assessments of air quality (including odour assessment and monitoring programmes) for a wide range of cross-sector UK and overseas projects from Stage 0 to detailed assessment relating to emissions from or exposure to line, point, area and volume sources.

Accountable to Senior Air Quality Consultant – Team Leader.

Competencies

Qualifications

• Degree+ in a science discipline; preferably related to air quality/pollution/atmospheric processes, etc

• Membership of Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM), Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES), Institute of Environmental Impact Assessment (IEMA) advantageous but not essential

Knowledge

• Fundamentals of air pollution dispersion

• UK Air Quality Strategy and Regulations

• Local Air Quality Management (LAQM) Review and Assessment process

• Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

• Air Quality Monitoring (e.g. NO2 diffusion tube monitoring, Rendel Dust Deposition Meter, etc.)

Experience

• 3 years experience in consultancy including relevant experience

• Experience in following or enhancing methodologies for the assessment of air quality (e.g. DMRB, WebTAG, STAG, LAQM.TG(03), etc.)

Technical Skills/Ability

• Application of empirical and computational modelling software for the assessment of air quality (e.g. DMRB, ADMS-Roads, BREEZE Roads, etc.) including model verification and assessment of impact significance

• Application of support software to air quality assessments (e.g. Surfer; ArcView, etc.)

• Report writing and proposal writing
