Synopsis

Manchester city centre office of this major insurance company looking for an experienced Commercial Development Underwriter (ACII qualified/progression) to underwrite commercial risk and develop account profitability.

Job Profile

Development Underwriter to underwrite commercial risks from a designated panel of intermediaries within agreed authority level, to identify potential new business opportunities and to develop a profitable panel of brokers for new business. Role will involve achieving set sales campaign targets, with an involvement in preparing business plans, managing intermediary relationships and conducting broker visits.

Applicant Requirements

Candidates must have a thorough understanding of general insurance products, good influencing skills and good sales and negotiation skills. ACII qualification is desirable as is good interpersonal skills with potential to represent and promote the business. Previous experience in dealing with major players/affinity groups and operating in a new sales environment is preferable. Candidates will ideally possess numeracy skills, knowledge of the market, self motivation, effective time management and proven successful track record of profitable business development.
