Job: Deputy Underwriting Manager, Independent Appointments

Synopsis

Manchester office of this high level specialist underwriting company looking for a Deputy Underwriting Manager with extensive underwriting experience in both Property and Liability.

Job Profile

Deputy Underwriting Manager is required to support the acquisition and retention of profitable business, be in charge of the team and assume the Manager’s responsibilities in their absence. Responsible for building/developing long term mutually profitable relationships with brokers within the whole of the UK, working individually and as part of a team. Role involves, negotiating, preparing and issuing renewal terms & new business quotations to Brokers, processing MTAs, dealing with queries and assisting in achieving team and personal targets. Will also build the training plans for the team, assist in the delivery of the technical training and assist with product development.

Applicant Requirements

Candidates must have the ability to understand and anticipate customer needs, to work accurately and consistently and be able to correspond with Brokers in a clear and not misleading manner. Good presentation skills, the ability to motivate and manage other members of the team and an understanding of sales and negotiation techniques is required. Candidates must have extensive underwriting experience, in both Property & Liability, in-depth product knowledge and progress towards CII qualification would be beneficial.
