This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environmental and Planning Solicitor/Partner to join a prestigious law firm based in Manchester.

Job Profile

Our client is looking to recruit an Environmental & Planning Senior Solicitor/Partner, to manage the firm's Safety, Health and Environment department. You will handle a multi-party toxic tort cases, regulatory prosecutions and statutory nuisance. You will also advise on environmental audit and due diligence issues on acquisitions, sales, financing and property development. You will also provide advice on environmental and insurance matters. This rare opportunity has become available due to the impending retirement of a real heavy hitter in this field. The individual is extremely highly regarded within the planning work and sits on the board of many of their clients. The firm, therefore need to find a candidate who has the department quality to take over from them, perhaps a currant number 2 in a comparable.

Applicant Requirements

We envisage that the successful candidate will possess at least 8 year’s post qualified experience (PQE), however we will accept applications from candidates of all levels of experience, who are able to demonstrate the necessary skills for the role, and be able to undertake a broad-based non-contentious environmental caseload. You will have expertise in the areas of risk management and compliance, prosecutions and civil disputes, commercial issues including advice on legislative and policy documentation, environmental management systems and auditing and negotiation of terms for prohibition, abatement and enforcement notices, corporate finance matters, construction issues and property and planning European law.
